Colposcopy

Colposcopy is an office procedure used to magnify the cervix, vagina, or vulva in order to properly evaluate an abnormal Pap smear and other abnormalities. If any abnormal cells are suspected, a biopsy of the tissue is done. A colposcopy is a very safe procedure with minimal discomfort and few complications.

Cervical and Endometrial Biopsy

A cervical or endometrial biopsy is a diagnostic office procedure that involves the examination and removal of tissue samples from the cervix or uterus when potential abnormalities are suspected. All samples are analyzed in a laboratory by a pathologist in order to detect cancer and other treatable conditions in their earliest stages.

Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP)

Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is used to diagnose and treat abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix. During the procedure, the cells are removed to prevent the development of cervical cancer. The removed tissue is then sent to a lab for further evaluation.

Dilation and Curettage (D&C)

Dilation and curettage is a procedure done to scrape and collect uterine tissue (endometrium) for diagnosis and treatment.  Dilation of the cervix allows instruments to pass into the uterus to enable curettage, which is the scraping of the uterine lining.  This procedure is performed to diagnose uterine cancer or other conditions, remove tissue after a miscarriage, treat heavy bleeding, or investigate infertility.

Genetic Cancer Testing
